February 2017 Empties

Here I am again with a bunch of products that I have completely finished. Like always it is so hard for me to restore the empty bottles but somehow I managed to do it this time. I have a mix of bath, body and hair care products. Lets look into these one by one!

1. Himalaya herbals baby body lotion - 400ml

This is my third bottle of this baby lotion. I loved using it so much in the past but not this one. Earlier I used 100ml and 200ml pack and so decided to get a bigger one as I liked it so much. However to my vain, this one was of such low quality. The lotion was very diluted and didn't serve its purpose. I was completely disappointed. I am not going to ever repurchase 400ml sized lotion again.

2. Iba Halal Nourishing foot massage cream

This foot massage cream is one of the best products I have come across. It is highly moisturising and has an alluring jasmine fragrance. It helps in healing the cracked heels. Sure shot, I am going to purchase this again.

3. Patanjali Amla Hair oil

I used this only a few times. The oil has strong scent that smells like an Ayurvedic medicine. I felt it was an okay product. No cons but then no pros as well. I will probably skip buying this again.

4. Splurge Lemon and Honey body wash

This body was very mild on the skin and barely even lathers. It is completely free of sulphates and parabens. It has a refreshing fragrance of lemon which was something that I liked. One con is that this body was very diluted. The consistency was water like. Again, I would skip buying this again as I feel it is over priced (INR 520 for 200ml).

5. Eye gel from a local khaki store

I got this eye gel a while ago from a Khadi store near by for just 40 bucks. I was skeptical about its effects but this gel amazed me. It did work on my dark circles and also gave a cooling effect which helped in relaxing my eyes. The gel smells just like Vicks balm. The next time I visit that khadi store I am definitely going to purchase this again. For 40 bucks this works much better than other high end eye creams and gels

6. Kronokare flower toner

The purpose of a toner is mainly to close open pores on the skin. On that note, this completely failed me. To me, it served no purpose. Honestly, this felt like spraying some herbal water on the face.

Akmasq from Ethicare remedies - Pimple care Complexion mask | Review

Acne is a common skin problem that most of us go through at some point or the other. I still remember my high school and college days when I had acne all over my face. They were stubborn and severe which wouldn't go away at all. Those pimples on my face still give me nightmares. God knows how many different treatments I tried to make them disappear. I consulted my dermatologist, I tried several home remedies(thanks to google and every person I know on this planet), I even gave up on chocolates and oily junk food. But nothing seemed to work for me. So I just let it stay! It was only after I got into my 20s that these stubborn pimples began to disappear gradually. This was the time I realised this problem was internal and something to do with the hormones and that I had no control of. I am writing this story of mine to let every teen out there know that puberty is the biggest reason for this skin damage and nothing else. So relax! This is temporary.

I am in my mid-twenties now and I wouldn't say I have an all clear skin. I do have the acne marks on my face (although there is no active acne). Sometimes I do get a pimple or two when I am stressed or just before my periods. Today's post I will be talking about a face mask that I found to be effective on getting rid of pimples- Akmasq from Ethicare remedies.

Akmasq from Ethicare remedies

Packaging:

It comes in a white tube with yellow flip open cap. The tube is covered in a cardboard box(not seen in pics). The flip open caps is comfortable as one can squeeze out as much quantity as required.

Key Ingredients:

Tea tree oil, Chandan, Turmeric, Pro Vit B5, Cucumber

My Experience:

I used this mask every night after washing my face for about a fortnight. I applied the mask only on those areas where there is acne. It is a smooth fuller earth kind of mask. The fragrance is quite unique , which is sort of a sweet chemical scent( I am bad at describing fragrances :( ) which I actually liked. I let it stay for about 15 minutes and washed off with cold water.

Upon washing it off, I noticed it removed the excess oil on my face but at the same time making my skin smooth. You will get a feeling of fresh and clean skin as it helps in removing the bacteria and dirt if present. This removal of bacteria and absorption of oil helps in clearing the acne gradually.

Price :

INR 199 for 75g

Pros:

  • Clears acne gradually
  • Removes excess oil
  • Gives a clean and fresh feel
  • Removes dirt , bacteria accumulated due to pollution
  • Inexpensive

Cons:

  • Contains SLS
  • Availability

Verdict:

This is a really good mask for oily acne prone skin. When used regularly, you will notice acne fading away.

SUGAR Smudge me not liquid lipstick - Shade 03 Tan Fan | Swatch | Review

Liquid lipsticks are so much in trend these days and Sugar Cosmetics have recently launched their range of liquid lipstick collection. These are called "smudge me not liquid lipsticks" and there are 10 exciting shades to choose from. I got hold of one of these shades just few days back and have worn it couple times already. In today's post, I will talk about my thoughts on the shade Tan Fan and also swatch it for you guys.

Sugar Smudge me not liquid lipstick

Shade 03 Tan Fan

Packaging:

Like all the other cosmetics from this brand , it has an cardboard box covering. I really like the print on this box. The packaging of this liquid lipstick is very similar to the Maybelline colour sensational velvet matte lipstick. It is a transparent tube filled with the liquid in the shape of a lipstick bullet. The cap is black in colour with a flat doe tip applicator. The total product size is 4.5 ml.

My experience:

I have been switching to nudes and neutrals with my make up and have literally given up on bold and dark shades. The only shade which I found closer to nude and the one that I thought would suit my medium skin tone is the shade Tan Fan. The swatches on the Sugar cosmetics website didn't give me a clearer picture about the shades. Tan fan turned out to be slightly darker than what I had anticipated. Nevertheless, it is such a gorgeous shade- mauve with brown undertones.

The application got much easier as the length of the wand is small( I really had a hard time getting used to wearing liquid lipsticks from Colourpop which had a long wand). A few minutes is required for it to settle down to complete matte. Over application of the lipstick would end up in sticky lips. Therefore, I had to be careful enough to apply one thin coat. The pigmentation is really good. One swipe was all that required to get the shade on the lips. I used a lip balm underneath before applying this lipstick and therefore I felt comfortable with it all day long. It stays upto 6 to 7 hours with light meals in between. One particular time, I hogged in some really greasy food and I noticed the lipstick faded away at the centre. As its name entails, it is indeed a smudge me not lipstick. It is transferproof and needs an oil based make up remover to remove it.

Swatch :

Swatch of Tan Fan

On my lips , Tan Fan

Price :

INR 499 for 4.5 ml

Pros:

  • Transfer proof
  • Long lasting
  • Pretty everyday nude shade
  • Small wand , therefore easier application
  • Inexpensive

Cons:

  • Might result in sticky lips if more than one coat is applied

Verdict:

This is a gorgeous every day shade which will suit all skin tones. It is affordable and worth a try if you are into liquid lipsticks.

Iba Halal Nourishing Foot Massage Cream | Review

My feet is the only body part that I hardly pay attention to. I have developed cracked heels in the recent past which is the reason I started taking care of my feet. I regularly go for pedicures to get rid of the dry heels. Recently, I received a foot massage cream from Iba halal in one of my fab bags. In today's post we will see how this foot massage cream worked for my dry-cracked feet.

Packaging :

It comes in a white plastic tube. It is a 50 g product.

My experience :

Iba halal is an Indian brand which is vegan , cruelty free and doest not have parabens and sulphates. So naturally, I had huge expectations from this foot cream. I used this cream every night before going to sleep. The cream is non greasy and has a jasmine fragrance. It has olive oil, Shea butter and cocoa butter and therefore it is highly moisturising.

Having used this cream for sometime now I did notice my cracks disappearing. My feet felt soft and the dryness has been diminishing day by day. When this aspect of the cream was satisfying, I didn't feel completely satisfied with the other feature that this product claims - relaxes tired feet. It does give a slight cooling sensation to the feet when applied but I don't feel that actually relaxes my feet. However, I wouldn't crib much about it as the cream actually relaxed me with my worries about the cracked heels and dryness of my feet.

Price :

INR 95 for 50 g.

Pros :

  • Vegan, cruelty free
  • Paraben and sulphates free
  • Aids in curing cracked feet gradually
  • Eliminated dryness in the feet area
  • Highly moisturising
  • Smoothens and softens heels

Cons :

  • Size of the product is too small. 50 g doesn't even lasts two weeks.

Verdict :

If you are at the initial stages of cracked heels and dryness in the feet , then do try this massage cream. It is extremely moisturising and I am sure the cracked heels would disappear in no time.

Fuschia Activated Charcoal natural handmade soap by vkare | Review

One brand that is trending these days in the blogging world is undoubtedly Fuschia. So being a typical skincare enthusiast I wanted to explore their skincare range. I purchased the detox regimen combo from Smytten during their sale. The combo includes a body scrub, a face mask and a handmade soap. All the three are from their activated charcoal range. In today's post you will get to know about the handmade soap in detail.

Fuschia Activated Charcoal Soap

Packaging :

The soap was covered with transparent plastic sheet.  A paper is rolled to the soap which has the name and ingredients printed on it.

Ingredients :

Vegetable Glycerin base, Olive oil, Castor oil, Coconut oil, Activated charcoal powder, Tea tree essential oil.

My experience :

This natural handmade soap is slightly transparent soap that is black in colour. The very first thing I loved about this soap is the alluring fragrance it has. This smells like a perfume. Such strong and refreshing scent it had that would awaken your senses. I have weak knees for those products that smell amazingly good. I am always on a look out for different shower gels, shower creams and soaps just for the fragrance. This one without any doubt won my heart.

Next, I like the fact that it is very light on the skin. It forms minimal lather and doesn't dry out the skin. The presence of natural oils in the soap help in maintaining the moisture. If you have never tried hand made soaps before you will definitely notice a whole lot of difference between those soaps that are manufactured in bulk and these that are natural and handmade. Overall, I enjoyed using this soap and I will definitely be trying out other variants soaps from Fuschia.

Price :

INR 225

Pros :

  • Natural and handmade
  • Free from paragons and SLS
  • Amazing fragrance
  • Very light on the skin
  • Doesn't dry out the skin
  • Helps maintain moisture

Cons :

  • Expensive

Verdict :

Must try for the fragrance. It will be like bathing with perfume :D And lets not forget this is all natural , chemical free and handmade.

The Pucker Up February Fab bag 2017 | Contents

February is the month to celebrate love and what better love than love for lipsticks. So this month's fab bag is aptly named "The pucker up" February fab bag and I received a sweet and cute white pouch with pink lipsticks animated on it. Honestly, the bag reminds me of cartoons :D . I am thrilled to use the contents of this bag as this time the choice of make up product is the newly launched Smudge me not liquid lipstick from Sugar Cosmetics.

Fab Bag February 2017 - The pucker up

Lets dig into the contents of the bag and see what all I received :)

1. SUGAR smudge me not liquid lipstick

We all know liquid lipsticks are so much in trend these days and I am glad that Sugar cosmetics has come out with an exciting range of liquid lipsticks with 10 amazing shades. I chose the shade 03 Tan Fan as I am totally into nudes and neutrals these days. It is a gorgeous nude mauve lipstick that will suit all skin tones. I believe this could be a good everyday colour. The price of this lipstick is INR 499/-

2. Matra Holistic Lip care

Never heard about this brand but since it is all natural , cruelty free and free from harmful chemicals I am excited to try this. The packaging claims it is SPF infused  and enriched with moroccan gold. The full list of ingredients are mentioned in the packaging and  I received the Strawberry scented one. It is a full sized product and retails for INR 199.

3. Just Herbs Lively Clean Honey exfoliating face cleansing gel

This is the only sample sized product in this month's bag. It is a 50 ml sample sized product that is a golden gel with brown granules to facilitate exfoliation. I have had a satisfactory experience with Just herbs products that I have used in the past and I hope this one works well too. The price for this sample is INR 230.

4. Batiste Dry shampoo - Fruity and Cheeky Cherry

Believe it or not I was about to order this dry shampoo while it was on offer last month but somehow didn't manage to get hold of this. I was taken aback to find this in Fab bag this time. I am so glad to have this and cannot wait to try it out. For a lazy bone as me, I hope this one works. The price of this 50ml product is INR 299.

As usual Fab bag never fails to impress me. I am glad with the contents that I received in this month's bag. I still can't get over the stunning lipstick shade and the dry shampoo which is so easy to use. The new lip balm is also something that I look forward to. If you haven't booked your bag then do it now. It is worth every penny!

Grape seed and sea buckthorn nuturance night cream from Plum | Review

I know I have been talking about lot of Plum products in my blog. But trust me, I cant get enough of them because of their 100 % vegan claim. So in today's post I will be reviewing my most favorite product so far from Plum - the Grape seed and sea buckthorn nuturance night cream. Earlier, my night time skin care regime involved washing face and putting on a moisturiser. I never really realized the true purpose of using a night cream until I found this little magic from Plum.

Night cream from Plum

Packaging :

It comes in a transparent glass round tub. As per the packaging, hygiene would be of concern if shared with others since you dont get to squeeze out the cream but will have to dip your fingers to get the product.

Ingredients :

My Experience :

I have been using this for the past three months every night and I love the way it works for me. The texture of this night cream is smooth which I feel is more like a combination of gel and cream. The reason I say more like gel-cream texture is because it is absolutely non greasy and non sticky but at the same time when applied you can feel the moisturization.

It has a pleasant mild fragrance which is simply soothing. It is highly moisturising. Once the cream gets absorbed, you can feel the softness it does to your skin. Upon regular use, I noticed it also helps in skin firming and tightening. Overall, I am a happy user of this night cream and I love how I wake up to a soft and supple skin every morning. Ever since I brought this I never go to bed without this wonderful cream on my face! I am on the verge of finishing one tub and I have made up my mind to repurchase it again!

Price :

INR 575 for 50 ml

Pros :

  • 100 % vegan and cruelty free
  • Free from paragons and other harmful chemicals
  • Non greasy or sticky
  • Highly moisturising - lasts upto 8 hours

Cons :

None!

Verdict :

If you have normal to dry skin, then you must try this. Go for it , this is simply good. However because it is highly moisturising, this is not recommended for oily-acne prone skin by the skincare experts from the brand itself.
